Bill Maher Describes Rand Paul

“It’s As If Sarah Palin Made It Through Med School”

Bill Maher unloaded on Rand Paul during his monologue on “Real Time” Friday night.

Paul, who won Kentucky’s Republican primary just this week, has taken heat for his extreme views. Trying to describe the eye doctor turned Tea Party-favorite, Maher joked that, “It’s as if Sarah Palin somehow made it through medical school.”

After pointing to some of Paul’s views, like his belief that private businesses should be allowed to discriminate, Maher observed, “the shit doesn’t fall far from the bat.”

Tea Party Leader: Allah Is ‘Monkey God’

A top Tea Party leader, enraged by a plan to build a mosque near Ground Zero, has referred to the Islamic deity as a “monkey-god” and to Muslims as “the animals of allah.” His Tea Party group, meanwhile, tells TPMmuckraker it’s not concerned abut the rhetoric.

Mark Williams, the conservative talk radio host who is listed as chairman of the Tea Party Express and acts as a frequent spokesman for the group, wrote on his blog Friday:

The animals of allah for whom any day is a great day for a massacre are drooling over the positive response that they are getting from New York City officials over a proposal to build a 13 story monument to the 9/11 Muslims who hijacked those 4 airliners.

The monument would consist of a Mosque for the worship of the terrorists’ monkey-god and a “cultural center” to propagandize for the extermination of all things not approved by their cult.

Glenn Beck Has Nazi Tourette’s

Daily Show correspondent Lewis Black was surprised that Glenn Beck had criticized those who have compared Arizona’s immigration law to Nazi Germany. “This is a guy,” said Black, “who uses more swastika props and video of the Nuremberg rallies than The History Channel.”

Black then showed clips of Beck himself comparing everything, from global warming to the Peace Corps, to Nazi Germany. “It’s ‘Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,’” Black said, “except there’s just one degree, and Kevin Bacon is Hitler. Can I play? Let’s see. Mother Teresa had a mustache. Hitler had a mustache. Mother Teresa is Hitler!”

He concluded: “Glenn Beck has Nazi Tourette’s.”

Tea Party Turns on Roger Ebert, Mocks His Cancer

The esteemed film critic and prolific tweeter criticized five kids who wore American flag T-shirts and bandannas to school on Cinco de Mayo. The Tea Party beast was awakened, and mocked his recent cancer and the disfigurement it left him.

Five kids were sent home from a California high school on Wednesday for what seems like a fairly open-and-shut case of trying to start trouble. Of course, to the nutbag right, this was not the case at all and the whole thing was anti-American. Last week Ebert sent this message in response to the story:

@ebertchicago Kids who wear American Flag t-shirts on 5 May should have to share a lunchroom table with those who wear a hammer and sickle on 4 July.

High school principal calls Facebook page wishing Obama dead ‘funny’

A New Hampshire high school principal is insisting her membership in a Facebook group lamenting that Barack Obama lived through his first year in office is all a big misunderstanding.

“I do not wish our president dead in any way,” Principal Ronna Cadarette told Concord Monitor.

More than a million people have joined the Facebook group, which features an illustration of the president equating him with iconography of the Soviet Union.

The name of the group is: “Dear Lord, This Year You Took My Favorite Actor, Patrick Swazie (sic). You Took My Favorite Actress Farah (sic) Fawcett. You Took My Favorite Singer, Michael Jackson. I Just Wanted to Let You Know, My Favorite President is Barack Obama. Amen.”

“I find that funny; I don’t find that offensive,” Cadarette said. “It’s a joke, off-color possibly, but a joke.”

She removed her entire Facebook page, but is now crying foul, saying the public pressure forced her to give up her First Amendment rights. Ironically, she struck a nerve with teachers at her school last fall when she carried out orders from the superintendent to disallow the live broadcast of a speech by President Obama aimed at the nation’s students.

According to Concord Monitor, English teacher Neal Byles went before the state Board of Education to argue that the district had infringed on his academic freedom and due process rights by barring him from showing the president’s speech live to his students last fall.

His complaint was dismissed unanimously by the Board, which is headed by attorney John Lyons, who worked on John McCain’s campaign. Byles is a registered Democrat, who is now using the Facebook incident to call attention to the political motivation behind refusing to allow students to see Obama’s speech as it happened.

“This site shows that Dr. Cadarette has a clearly partisan agenda regarding President Obama, which makes her part in the censorship of him in our district highly suspect,” Byles said.

Yet the principal insists her Facebook page has “zero association with me professionally.”

Cadarette told the newspaper she took down her Facebook page in the face of heated criticism.

“Because of this experience and the unintended consequences of something that was a joke, I will now not exercise my First Amendment rights, and I will have no Facebook page,” she said.
